My Opera stopped displaying mail. After some testing I found that by disabling Windows Search Service (in the process list it is called “SearchIndexer.exe”) the problem disapeared.
Windows Search Service I belive is a part of the new Office 2007, and seams to have an extreme hunger for RAM and hard drive access. Probably the problem with it will lessen or go away once it has indexed the hard drive.
To disable Windows Search Service,
- open the Run panel by pressing Windowskey + R
- Write services.msc and click OK (in some versions of the OS this may be services.exe)
- Find “Windows Search Service” and doubleclick to open.
- Stop it, and choose “Inactivated” as start method.
